Abbey Road’s Anniversary

26 September 1969: Abbey Road, The Beatles’ last recorded album, is realeased.

Despite the problems between the members of the band, the result is magnificent and Abbey Road is still considered to be one of the greatest album ever, and the best the Fab have published. Even if you don’t like the Beatles and don’t know their discography, you’ll be able to identify the cover of the album, which has become a symbol of the band.

The famous cover photo was taken by photographer Ian Macmillan on August 1969 in front of the EMI Studios in Abbey Road, and shows us the four crossing the road, with Lennon leading. If you’ve already read my post about the PID theory, you’ll already know the “clues thing” regarding the picture. If not, you can find out more here 🙂

What I like the most about the album is the Medley part, a fantastic mix of euphoria and emotion that makes this record unique. As if it wasn’t enough, it contains some of my favourite Beatles songs as the incredible “Something” and “Here comes the sun” by Harrison, or “I want you” which I think is the perfect example of their greatness as musicians. Here’s the complete tracklist (click on each title for the YouTube link):

1. Come Together
2. Something
3. Maxwell’s Silver Hammer
4. Oh! Darling
5. Octopus’s Garden
6. I Want You (She’s So Heavy)
7. Here Comes The Sun
8. Because
9. You Never Give Me Your Money
10. Sun King
11. Mean Mr. Mustard
12. Polythene Pam
13. She Came In Through The Bathroom Window
14. Golden Slumbers
15. Carry That Weight
16. The End
17. Her Majesty

What’s your favourite Abbey Road song? Mine would be “Something”. And “Because”. Or “Polythen Pam” if it was a bit longer.

FUCK. I love ’em all.
