The White Album’s Anniversary

Standard

22 November 1968: The Beatles, better known as The White Album,  is realeased.

It’s one of The Beatles most famous album, and one of the most interesting to me. The recording sessions were characterized by discussions and conflicts among the member of the group, that led Ringo to abandon the band for some times; this is why many songs were not recorded by the whole group. It was a very difficult time for the Fabs, as it was their first album after Brian Espstein’s death and it was going to be published by their own label, Apple.

The number and quality of songs it’s probably due to the time spent in Rishikesh, India, where the band met Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and had the opportunity to experiment intense periods of meditation. Listening to the record you can see how each member of the band was starting to experiment and find his own style, which is something I really like about the album.
